CECA

Arts & Services newest addition, The Cultural Education Center for the Arts (CECA) in Hawthorne, California, opened June 18, 2007. Funded in large part by a generous grant from Westside Regional Center, CECA is designed to provide community inclusion for individuals leaving the state developmental centers and beginning anew as fully participating citizens as well as individuals with developmental disablilities.

CECA offers services to individuals with significant physical and intellectual disabilities to access resources and acquire the skills to lead enriched and independent lives. CECA offers life enhancing opportunities through a creative art based curriculum. Additionally, CECA offers a Teacher Assistant Program through the community Workshop Program offered onsite at the Artifact Gallery. These workshops are offered to members of the community as well as Arts & Services for Disabled Students bi-monthly fostering community inclusion, community enhancement while promoting creative expression.

CECA’s arts curriculum and community integration opportunities emphasize the strength and power of individual creative expression all while providing a strong contribution to the rich cultural diversity of the South Bay area. Meaningful work, purposeful activity, and improved quality of life are the primary goals of the new Cultural Education Center for the Arts.
